Time and attendance system works with all of the major payroll packages

The details of large pay packets earned by thousands of temporary staff at a major company were accidentally revealed via email this week. A recruitment agency by error sent the information about Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) temps which showed they received up to £2,000 a day – which is the equivalent of £500,000 a year. This revelation comes at the same time as RBS is in the process of cutting thousands of permanent staff jobs. Tensor Time & Attendance systems are the best there is for handling all major hours calculation methods and payroll issues. Our systems, for example WinTAnet, combine the requirements of time and attendance, rostering and job costing. They include settings to deal with different overtime rates, night shift working and paid or unpaid breaks. A major requirement of any Time & Attendance system is the ability to export information to the payroll system. Tensor is the leader in this field and has worked with all of the major payroll packages.

Reliable contactless clocking and security smart cards allow consistent read range

On trial at a Southern-based rail company is a reusable smart card giving commuters an alternative to paper tickets. If the card is successful, it will be rolled out elsewhere. In September the card system will be trialled between Brighton and Seaford stations. Commuters will be able to use the card for season, single and return tickets when the trial starts in September. Rail bosses said there will be other innovations such as rail-bus tickets. Tensor smart cards or key fobs are used to operate our time and attendance clocking and access control security systems – they can be integrated so one card can be used to both clock in and gain entry. All Tensor contactless smart cards and key fobs use the same well-proven and reliable RF (Radio Frequency) reading technology. This gives a consistent read range which is unaffected by most external conditions. In addition, Tensor can also provide smart card software, which gives you an easy way to professionally produce your own ID cards.

Keep out crime at a site with full control over access at door or road entry points

A 70-year-old man is believed to be the oldest arrested for being involved in the violence and looting that plagued London recently. Police have not named the man but have said he was held in connection with the theft from a shop in west London, on August 8, 2011. The individual was released after receiving a police caution. The Metropolitan Police said it had more than 20,000 hours of CCTV footage to review. Tensor can install a complete access control and security system to keep out crime at your business premises. Tensor's gates, barriers and turnstiles fully integrate with our smart card and biometric access control systems giving you full jurisdiction over movement and access in and around your site. A Tensor system can stop vehicles or personnel at the relevant barrier and disallow entry or exit until they identify themselves via their smart card and/or biometric fingerprint. The system gives full control over who is allowed access through any controlled door or road entry point.

Business time and attendance software allows user definable working patterns

There are worries the Welsh Government is not being quick enough to sort its plans for enterprise zones with fears those in England may attract businesses away from Wales. Conservative councillor Matt Wright, executive member for economic development at Flintshire, said: "We know that the economy is having difficulties… but if we don't push ahead and make decisions on these things, the jobs will go to England and other areas.” Some of the English zones are 10 miles from Flintshire's proposed site. Tensor can give a ‘shot in the arm’ to your business or enterprise with our unbeatable Time and Attendance software. Using the software you can view all time and attendance information for an employee or a single department. User-definable working patterns, rosters and shifts can be created with the multi-lingual system. The Group Holiday Planner displays a whole year of absences at a time. It allows easy view of incidences of multiple absences, whether in the past or the future, making it an ideal management tool.

Strong magnetic door release device incorporates forced entry detection

Visitors to the new Westfield shopping centre situated close to London's Olympic Park may have their cars checked by security staff before they can enter. From this month until the end of the Paralympic Games in September 2012, G4S security staff will inspect vehicles entering the public car parks. Those chosen for searches will be asked to pull over from the line of traffic before continuing their journey into the centre’s car parks. Millions of entries and exits are made by people, every day, throughout the world, using a Tensor Smart Card and Scanner to gain entry or exit to car parks, turnstiles or buildings. The security status of each access point is controlled by the Smart Card scanner settings associated to that particular access point. Among our reliable products is the Tensor LOCK5, a world-class device for securing a door using a magnetic door release. Very strong, beautifully designed, it incorporates forced entry detection and green and red LED lamps to provide visual verification the unit is working.

Labour hours analysis package ideal for clocking at smaller companies

More than 2,000 businesses with fewer than 10 employees were surveyed by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), and many said they struggle to recruit the staff they desire. The BCC points out that these businesses generate one-fifth of private sector turnover in the UK. One in five firms plans to double staff numbers between now and 2015. Half say they find it difficult to recruit the right people, and they believe that rules around dismissal are “burdensome”. Designed for smaller companies, WinTA Lite is the latest in the proven Tensor range of Windows™ based time and attendance products, from simple collection of employees' clocking data, through to extensive analysis of labour hours. It can be connected to Tensor Access Control or Personnel systems. The package includes a WinTA Lite software installation CD, a T32xx Clocking Station, 50 Smart Cards (additional cards are available on request), a User Manual, a serial cable for communications to PC, and 12 months of free helpdesk support from the date of purchase.

Simple attendance recording system merely requires access to a computer

Many theories have been put forward during the past week as to why the riots took place, and some commentators blame a lack of discipline installed in young people through the home and schools. The Prime Minister yesterday mentioned schools that do set an example as he described how part of “the social fightback” involves what happens in the classroom. David Cameron said: “They provide an alternative to street culture by showing how anyone can get up and get on if they apply themselves.” Tensor can help with its WinTA PC Clock – a simple attendance recording system suitable for anywhere that each pupil has access to a computer. PC Clock's analysis module consists of a scaled-down version of Tensor's acclaimed WinTA Lite time and attendance software. In this case pupils are simply presented with an input screen on their PC allowing them to clock in and out. PC Clock can be used for any number of users and there is no need for additional licences.

Upgrade an analogue CCTV system to digital to better protect premises

A six square-metre display unit has been driven around in a city centre to catch more rioters. The mobile device – believed to be the first of its kind – shows dozens of CCTV images of trouble-makers and is circulating around Birmingham where some of the worst recent disorder has taken place. Total arrests connected with the riots across seven police forces were nearing the 3,000 mark by Monday (August 15) morning. If you already have an analogue CCTV system installed at your site, you may only require a simple upgrade of some of the elements on your network in order to adopt a Tensor digital CCTV system to better protect your premises. A Tensor digital CCTV system works extremely well as a standalone system, and can also be fully integrated with any previously installed Tensor access control or visitor monitoring equipment to provide a surveillance and security network that is second to none. Tensor retains membership of the British Security Industry Association among other accreditations.

Proximity read clocking smart cards have encoded ID that cannot be duplicated

Two southern England police authorities could face having to cope with redundancies after signing a merger agreement. A new combined unit will share and manage police data across the two forces, will be based in existing locations across Hampshire and Thames Valley. A police statement said: “The creation of the joint unit will reduce the total number of posts required to deliver information management for the two forces.” The new unit will involve “few, if any, redundancies.” Tensor proximity read smart card clocking methods can save your organisation resources and improve efficiency. The most popular T1305 Tensor Smart Card is the size of a standard credit card (thin and flexible enough to be carried in your wallet) and operates our time and attendance, access control and visitor monitoring systems. The product comes in two different colours, is very secure and is virtually foolproof. The reason is that the smart card microchip is a passive device which holds a unique factory encoded ID number that cannot be duplicated.

Software predicts most appropriate shift depending on when an employee starts work

A city council said it will put an extra £1 million towards staff salaries so a pay cut can be marginally reduced. Southampton City Council has been in a protracted dispute with unions – who have rejected the new deal – over new contracts forcing council workers earning more than £17,500 to take a pay cut of up to 5.5%. Bin and toll collectors, parking officers, street cleaners and library staff have all been on strike during the past three months. Details of contracts and pay should not be an issue at a company which uses hours calculation, absence planning and payroll Time and Attendance software and systems from Tensor. Our most comprehensive systems, WinTA Enterprise and WinTAnet, can supply working rules to calculate the correct result in matters of flexitime, night shifts, overtime and annual contracts. Work patterns are a combination of daily rules that are either a repeating pattern of shifts or a list of alternative rules. Here, WinTA will predict the most appropriate shift depending on when an employee starts work.

Durable gates keep out trespassers and offer safety in a power failure

British Transport Police (BTP) said patrols are being increased to keep young people off railway lines. The problems are especially bad in the West Midlands and for this reason one station in the area (at Yate) has had eight security cameras installed following a spate of vandalism. BTP added that last year, between August 1 and September 30, 82 offences were recorded with the majority being for trespass. A spokesman said the school summer holidays traditionally coincided with a rise in trespassing. Tensor can stop trespassers gaining entry to your site with our range of access control, gate and barrier technology. Tensor’s high quality, durable gates offer reliable performance in the most demanding environments. Ideal for controlling vehicle access to and from your site, Tensor’s gates are quick to respond to the user’s instructions and they follow strict security standards. All gates include a manual override facility preventing closure on a pedestrian or vehicle as well as offering safety in a power failure.

Employees can be allocated different absence entitlements using HR network

Half of all working mothers could be taking cuts in their maternity pay if proposed changes to parental leave are implemented. The TUC gave this warning in its submission to a Government consultation on proposals to allow mothers and fathers to share parental leave. The TUC is worried that mothers could lose out financially if the current 52-week statutory maternity leave is replaced by an 18-week period of designated leave for mothers, after which time at home can be shared between parents. All pay scales and payroll issues are covered at your business if you invest in a Tensor WinTAnet time & attendance system. The cutting edge multi-lingual network can dramatically improve your HR management. It can handle different overtime rates and night shift working, and can insert unpaid breaks if employees do not clock them. Graphical calendar charts provide a colourful way of viewing an individual's or a department's absence records. Each employee can be allocated different entitlements for absence such as annual leave or allowed sickness.
