Tensor sponsors the purchase of new medical equipment for Octagon at Great Staughton Surgery

Tensor plc, a designer and manufacturer of high tech security and energy & environmental monitoring products based in Hail Weston, has made a significant donation towards the purchase of new medical diagnostic equipment to be used by Octagon at Great Staughton Surgery. The company has an ongoing program to promote good health and well-being, which was earlier this year recognised by the company's accreditation of ISO 45001:2018, the occupational health and safety standard.

The general practice treats minor ailments that occur, as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues.

"We are pleased to help our local GP practice" said Nigel Smith, Chairman of Tensor plc. "As expert engineers we understand the importance of electronic based sensor technology. This equipment can help doctors make an earlier decision thereby targeting the better use of medicines — less waste for the NHS and less unnecessary drugs for the patient" he added.

The donation from Tensor will allow the surgery to download a patient's cardiovascular data directly to the surgery's computer. Once the data is analysed, it will be exported in PDF format which allows the practice to review any areas of concern and/or copy into the patient's records.

The surgery is also researching a separate piece of equipment to be purchased which measures the amount of nitrous dioxide exhaled from the lungs. This can aid the selection of the correct inhaler.
