Up to 28,000 temporary workers will be hired per week between now and Christmas, as the major retailers gear up for the seasonal shopping rush, a new market report published by a major multi-brand recruitment organisation has revealed.

According to the The Cordant Group's research, most companies turn to temporary workers to help meet an anticipated demand on the high street and in online shopping this season. For this reason, there's an increased demand for industrial workers (warehouse operatives, packers and drivers ) and back-office personnel (including call centre operators).

In fact, as far as the latest category is concerned, the report reveals that recruiters are starting to get more requests from UK companies regarding the employment of multi-lingual call centre operators as they see a rise in online sales from overseas customers.
