Police have reported that a crime clampdown campaign based on reinforcing front line resources is a resounding success in terms of results and public support. The force has identified reductions in almost every crime level in Fife, particularly in the area of public disorder where there was a down turn of 22 per cent. Offences also reduced in the areas of vandalism, which is down by 18 per cent and petty assaults, which is down by 13 per cent. It is not surprising that the report said that 85 per cent of the public surveyed want these operations to continue as they see crime shrink across the Scottish force area.
