What does NSI Gold approval mean for Tensor?

Tensor is proud to hold NSI NACOSS Gold accreditation for the design, installation and maintenance of our Access Control and CCTV systems.

What is NSI approval?

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) is the most highly trusted independent certification body for security and fire safety in the UK.

NACOSS Gold is the most comprehensive level of NSI certification for electronic security systems companies. Tensor is accredited in two areas: The Design, Installation and Maintenance of CCTV Surveillance Systems, and The Design, Installation and Maintenance of Access Control Systems.

NSI NACOSS Gold approval shows that Tensor meets the industry's highest technical standards and maintains a commitment to continual improvement, including ISO 9001 approval.

Companies applying for NSI Gold approval undergo a rigorous multi-stage application process, and are audited regularly by independent industry specialists to ensure continuing compliance with the necessary standards.

What does NSI approval mean for a company?

NSI approval is not just about the products and systems in place — it is a reflection of the company as a whole. Among the company-wide requirements necessary for NSI Gold approval are:

    • reputable Directors with relevant business experience
    • suitable business premises
    • appropriate insurance
    • robust financial standing
    • effective security screening of employees to BS 7858
    • teams with relevant technical experience
    • ongoing staff training to ensure the required level of skill
    • a Quality Management System operated to ISO 9001 and NSI's Security Systems Quality Schedule
    • installation of a sufficient number of systems to allow quality to be assessed

What does NSI approval mean for customers?

By choosing to contract an NSI approved company, you can be assured of their integrity, technical expertise and professionalism.

Some insurers' security conditions specify NSI approval to demonstrate that they meet recognised industry and British standards. As an NSI Gold approved company, Tensor's Access Control and CCTV systems meet this required standard.

The NSI standard is also recognised by the Police, Fire and Rescue Services, and is accredited by UKAS, the national accreditation body for the UK, which is appointed by the government to assess and accredit organisations that provide services including certification, testing, inspection, calibration, validation and verification.

The NSI is governed by a board of Directors that includes experts from the fire, security and insurance industries, as well as observers from the National Police Chiefs' Council and the National Fire Chiefs' Council.
