Advanced, integrated access control solutions and biometric access systems are likely to top the secure identity trends in 2015, experts can forecast.

Researchers and technologists believe that six key technologies are likely to become the most popular trends in secure identity authentications in 2015, most of which focus on the adoption of latest-generation technological developments and innovations.

One of the key trends in innovation will be interoperable technologies that enable partners to build new solutions (secure print authentication, EV charging station access, and more) that can be accessed with the same smart card or smartphone used to open doors.

The adoption of new credential form factors, as well as additional ways to open doors and other entrance systems and advances in how we manage identities and using biometrics to help change security from a barrier to a guardrail will also play a major part.

The growing popularity of interconnected devices and the Internet of Things (IoT), where Wi-Fi locks, RFID-enabled devices, online hotel locks, and mobile keys are all connected ways of interacting or capturing data for the benefit of companies or consumers.

Video clips retrieved from CCTV cameras are associated with access control activity are available when CCTV is integrated with Tensor.NET.

The cameras are allocated to location entries created in Tensor.NET, which are then linked to smart card scanners or push buttons in the Hardware Manager. Furthermore, multiple cameras can be allocated to the same location, or multiple locations can be assigned to the same camera and lock sensors are connected directly to the CCTV's DVR.

As a lock is released, an alarm event triggers the recording of video footage for the event. This footage is then available for playback in Tensor.NET, either by location or as a link in an access control report. Screen displays are provided to report upon access events, including links to play the related video clip.

Additionally, the application allows either live or historic video to be viewed for periods not linked to any specific Access Control event.
