Fresh report raises serious concerns about fire risk management in UK firms

An improper approach to fire risk management remains a significant health and safety issue within numerous UK firms, recent research from leading law firm Hugh James has been able to suggest.

The survey, which polled 2,000 full and part-time employees working in the UK, revealed gaps in fire safety procedures when it comes to UK workplaces. Worryingly, the research highlighted that almost half (46%) haven't received workplace training on what to do in the event of a fire or any health and safety policies at all. Furthermore, the findings also revealed that many couldn't recall when the fire doors (42%) or fire extinguishers (28%) at their workplace were last inspected.

Although 89% of respondents said they took workplace health and safety seriously, the research highlighted there is risk of employers taking a lacklustre approach in general when it comes to overall health and safety in the workplace.

Reports can be grouped by a cardholder's default resident fire point or by the fire point that they are currently booked on to. Printers are connected either via a direct cable connection or by direct IP and can be limited to reporting upon specific zones or fire points.

Plus, muster points can also be installed where cardholders scan upon arrival at a Muster point. In real-time, Tensor.NET Access removes the cardholder from the fire roll-call report to provide a real-time roll call of any cardholders who remain in the building.
