Companies set to invest more in HR technology, global survey reveals

Almost 33 percent of companies around the world plan to increase and redirect their investments in HR technology by up to 20% or more compared with the previous year, data from an annual survey by global professional services company Towers Watson suggests.

The 2014 HR Service Delivery and Technology Survey, a global survey of 1,048 companies, also found that nearly half of the respondents (46%) reported using mobile technologies for HR transactions. The survey also noted that there is room for much growth, as only one-in-ten (10%) are using mobile access for a majority of HR transactions.

Additionally, 60% of employers have an HR portal in place, up from 53% in 2013 and another fifth (20%) are in the process of developing a portal.

Furthermore, statistical data highlights the fact that the adoption of manager self-service tools increased dramatically worldwide. Seventy-one percent of North American organisations are using manager self-service tools this year, compared with 61% in 2013. Similar adoption increases were experienced in Asia Pacific, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Worldwide, 60% of organisations want to increase their use of manager self-service tools in the future.

The Tensor Mobile SSM implements role based security allowing you to easily choose which combination of features employees will have permission to access. Employees will only see those features to which they have been granted access.

Using the Mobile Self Service Module on an iPhone, employees can Clock In or Out (with location), request a period of absence, view their remaining leave entitlements, recent clocking history and current flexitime balance, book On or Off individual jobs / projects and also receive notifications when requests are made, approved or rejected.

Supervisors can view their subordinate work colleague's time sheets and approve or deny their absence requests. Management of requests is made easy with the aid of a calendar showing the absence of supervised employees.
